For years, I have been fortunate to access @AmericanExpress airport lounges (or their partner lounges). It's one of the best benefits of having the right AMEX card, and I hope I keep it for a long time.

But not all the lounges are equal. I don't travel an awful lot, so I cannot write about all the lounges, perhaps you can add your favourites in the comments. I've used the Plaza Premium lounge at Toronto's Pearson airport the most, and so far it's the best. It's comfortable and it offers complimentary food and drinks - not just a few snacks like trail mix or mini cookies like at the Delta SkyClub lounge (JFK terminal 2).

The Centurion AMEX lounge in Mexico City is impressive. However, it's more like a restaurant bar and less like an airport lounge, complete with waiters and staff. The complimentary food is better than at the Delta SkyClub, but still not a meal like you can have at the Plaza Premium at Pearson.

Having said this, though, I do recommend carrying the AMEX Platinum card - if you travel often. In general it's very nice to be able to relax in a quiet comfortable place at an airport, even if the food/snacks vary from lounge to lounge.
